Thousands of Voices, One Shared Vision: Perth’s Capital City Plan Launched

Designed, delivered and authored by our Director, Andrew Watt – the City of Perth’s most comprehensive engagement process to date.

Perth Capital City Plan Community Engagement

It was fantastic to see the City of Perth launch of its Perth’s Capital City Plan – Towards 2036 and Beyond last night. This is a landmark document that will help shape the future direction of Western Australia’s capital city over the next decade.

We are particularly proud that our Director, Andrew Watt, played a pivotal role in the development of the plan. Andrew designed and delivered what was one of the most comprehensive community and stakeholder engagement processes ever undertaken by the City of Perth. He also authored the plan.

The engagement program included

  • More than 30 community and stakeholder pop-ups across all City of Perth neighbourhoods, as well as sessions at two schools and The University of Western Australia.

  • Four major surveys:
    • Community Survey for residents, workers, students and visitors.
    • Sector Survey for organisations across business and community sectors.
    • Neighbouring Local Government Survey.
    • Staff Survey open to all City of Perth employees.

  • Extensive workshops and stakeholder engagement:
    • Nine neighbourhood workshops.
    • Youth workshops.
    • Five staff workshops involving officers from across the organisation.
    • Six stakeholder meetings facilitated through the CEO Alliance.

The resulting plan is unashamedly ambitious, with a vision for Perth to become Australia’s most vibrant, connected and welcoming city, with a lifestyle second to none.

Most importantly, the plan reflects the passion, ideas and aspirations of the community, stakeholders and staff who contributed their time and perspectives to help shape Perth’s future.

A huge congratulations to the City of Perth Administration and Council for investing in such a thorough and inclusive process to ensure the voices of its community were heard and reflected in the city’s long-term vision.
